Introduction to University of Mary
The Sisters of St. Benedict of Annunciation Monastery originally founded the University of Mary in 1955 as a two-year college. In 1959, the school was renamed Mary College and transformed into a four-year school.
After moving to its current campus location in 1968, the school was finally renamed the University of Mary in 1986. The University of Mary School of Accelerated and Distance Education was established in 1959, serving the needs of distance learning students.
